Mediaeval Carols
- Carols and Liturgical Music for Christmas from the Middle Ages
Hugely popular annual event; a candle-lit concert of English 15th century carols, together with liturgical chant for Christmas in the context of a narration from mediaeval sources. Also Machault's 'Gloria', and Obrecht's magisterial ‘Factor Orbis‘ with its interwoven biblical prophetic texts and concluding declamatory Noës. Bringing the concert to a close is 'Ave Maria mater Dei' by William Cornysh from the late 15th century Eton Choir Book.
